English Subtitles for Watashi no Kirai na Tantei Episode 2.

Episode 2

Hey guys, I just finished the subtitles for Episode 2 of Watashi no Kirai na Tantei Episode 2 this morning. I’m sorry that my releases aren’t very fast, I’m aware of the fact that the drama is up to Episode 5 now – I watched it on the weekend. I’m just trying to do everything at a slow pace so I don’t wear myself out too quickly like when I first started doing subbing. I really like this series and subtitling has become fun again for me, so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their support in the comments. I’ll be doing this series until the end. I looked at D-Addicts yesterday for the first time in awhile because I still have back-links there in the forums and while there were some not so nice things written there about me there was also an encouraging comment there amongst all of them that actually made me smile a little. You know how it goes, hit the jump for the subtitles.

If you want to put the subtitles file anywhere please ask for my permission first, I’ll probably say yes anyway. If you want to translate it into another language you’re free to do so but please credit me somewhere. If you want to link my blog on your own blog or website you’re free to do so without my permission – I just hope your website isn’t full of spam and thin content because I had a lot(read hundreds) of back links from weird Russian sites a few months ago and I had to make a disavow request to Google to get rid of them all. Now I’ve finished this episode I’m going to be doing the final episode of Glass no Ie next so expect that sometime next week hopefully – it usually takes less time than Watashi no Kirai na Tantei because it has less dialog. Also I’m trying to decide on what I’m going to juggle with Kirai na Tantei after I’ve finished Glass no Ie so if there’s something that you think I should pick up(from this season) please write it down in the comments below. I’d just like to ask that you limit your suggestion to one drama, I feel kind of overwhelmed when people suggest I pick up 2 or 3 dramas in the same comment. The more people that suggest a drama the more likely it is that I’ll pick it up so have your say. Anyway here’s the subtitles, I hope you enjoy Episode 2. They are timed to semi-fly‘s upload at D-Addicts.

  1. Thanks for all your hard work! It’s very much appreciated!

I’m glad to hear Glass no le will be picked up again. I so love that show. (^_−)−☆

  2. I’m glad to read that this series has made subbing fun for you again, I can’t imagine how difficult this task is, so to know it makes you feel this way is just great!

Thank you again for taking the time so sub the series, I’ll gladly wait for whenever your subs come out, it’s your free time after all!

    *Cheers you on!*

  3. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge of the language and hard work in subbing it for us that can’t understand. It is much appreciated. Wish you all the best!

  4. thank you, as always. 🙂 I love your blog comments, & of course, your subs. 😀

hmm…as a suggestion from this season, it really depends on the genre. for the detective stuff, there’s Inpei Sousa. for the medical stuff, there’s Iryu Team Medical Dragon (season 4). I’m NOT suggesting you do both, of course! both are available on d-addicts.

I do have a question: how do you generate your translations? do you translate from the jp subs or do you translate from listening? I’m curious.

    • Yeah no problem. Ahhh if I had to pick between those two I’d probably go for Inpei Sousa because I’m actually following it but there are some small parts in it that just go way over my head. Mostly the police ranking explanations like in the last episode that aired. Ryuzaki gets put in charge of security for the American President’s arrival which gives him a ranking that makes him superior to people he was subordinate to before the assignment – which he will be subordinate to again once the temporary assignment ends. Barely makes sense even when explained in my native language. I’ll watch the first episode again and see how I feel about it.

I usually watch the episode once then use timed Japanese subtitles. I highlight stuff I can’t translate without visuals then overlay it and go back to those parts and make sure they’re right/re-write them. There’s room for error though so some parts might seem a bit weird mostly because I only re-check like 10% or so before I release it. I have done stop start translations before and it takes like an entire day vs. a few hours ahaha.

      • so it turns out that Iryu 4 is being picked up by someone. so Inpei Sousa is still available. 😀 actually, the suggestion of just working on one drama is a really good idea. there’s no need to try to do too much, & risk possible burn-out…so I retract my suggestion for Inpei Sousa. 🙂

thank you for your detailed reply regarding translations. I suspected that is the case. doing start-stop WOULD take forever. if I could read kanji, I would do the same thing. having the timed files is also very convenient.

  5. Please stick with just the one “Watashi no Kirai na Tantei”. I am even watching the RAWs without understanding the dialogue. I don’t mind waiting a little while but not as long as Glass.

  6. thank you for subbing this drama.for next project could u subbing between dr dmat or iryu 4,i really want to watch this drama, cos i like medical drama.but if you couldnt it’s okay

    • Hey, I’m sorry but I’m not watching any medical dramas at the moment and I don’t want to do subs for them because the content is just so hard to comprehend and explain. Dramas that are heavy on everyday conversation are no problem for me but dramas with a lot of specialised vocabulary are way too time consuming for me. Same goes for Jidaigekis. Sorry to disappoint you.

  7. Bad News for Dr.Dmat I would like to see this drama very much But I’m very pleased that you pick up this drama . Thank you very much
