Fukuie Keibuho no Aisatsu special footage.

Fukuie Keibuho no Aisatsu

Has anyone else been watching Fukuie Keibuho no Aisatsu this season? I’ve been watching it every week since it started airing but I never ended up writing anything about it, I guess I just forgot to. If you haven’t heard of the drama before now it’s a pretty typical detective drama, and the main character is a detective called Fukuie who has some pretty…Let’s just say strange habits. Despite that she’s an investigating prodigy and ends up solving incident upon (supposedly) unsolvable incident. Fukuie Keibuho is getting pretty close to its last episode, which is kind of sad but I found some news today saying that some special footage is going to be released that won’t be aired in the TV version. Keep reading on for more details about it.

The never before seen, not for TV footage is going to be released on YouTube in two parts. I suppose footage might have been a bad way to describe what the videos are. They’re more than just bloopers or behind the scenes, they’re actually mini episodes about Fukuie and her life before and just as she joined the Metropolitan Police Department as an investigator. Both parts will feature Fukuie(Dan Rei) as the narrator and the way they are done will somewhat resemble an investigation. There’s no solid details on how long each clip is going to run for but the first was released today. The second part of the footage will be released on the 11th, on the same day Episode 9 is released. The annoying thing is that you won’t be able to view them without a Japanese IP Address because of the strict, draconian copyright laws Japan has that somehow are even observed on YouTube with free footage. If you’re living in Japan and have some free time please give it a watch and tell me what you thought of it.

  1. I have not exactly been following this drama, but I have been downloading it and its subs as episodes have come out. I do look forward to watching it! Though of course I will miss those YouTube extras…

    • Yeah it’s definitely not a bad drama. Just really annoys me how they region block all of their promotional stuff on YouTube – but I guess it’s a normal thing over there and all the networks do it so it’s something that won’t change. Same goes for so many Japanese applications too.

  2. I started this series for Inagaki Goro, since I am a devoted SMAP fan, but I must say, I’m a bit disappointed with it. It is not bad, but it is not as good as I expected it to be either. Fukuie is amusing, no doubts, still I hoped for her to be a Japanese, female Monk, and that is far from it. Well, of course, this is nobody’s fault that I let my expectations fly so high 🙂 I am not dropping it – I want to see it till the end, that’s for sure!
Too bad, that those extras are not available for Europe, but well, I will look forward to your review then 😀

    • I wouldn’t say it’s one of the best dramas from this season but it’s still interesting enough to keep watching and I have to admit I have been hanging out waiting to see how Inagaki Goro’s character handles Fukuie constantly ignoring the orders that he gives her. He flipped out pretty bad two episodes back but I don’t think he’s had his last word yet. I also don’t understand how he made it up to Keibu rank at such a young age either so maybe there’ll be some cool twist there.

  3. It’s too bad I can watch them, but I can’t understand much. They’re pretty short (1 and a half minutes each). First part is the same for both videos with some biographical info about Fukuie and the second part is different.

    • Are they only a minute and a half each? The article I read made it sound like a mini episode. That’s pretty disappointing, what ridiculous hype for such short footage.

      • Well, unless there’s some other videos somewhere else, they really are that short. The first one is 1:37, and the second one is 1:35. I’m somehow not surprised that there’s lots of hype for small things…

        • Oh wow, I guess I don’t really need to watch them then haha. Thanks for giving me a heads up before I made any effort trying to find a reliable Japanese proxy.
