If you were in on the last season of dramas you’d know that Haruma Miura starred in an almost heart-breaking series called “Boku no Ita Jikan“, taking on the role of an ALS sufferer. There was some news last week that he will be taking on a completely different character, playing the lead role in the live-action adaption of Shingeki no Kyojin. For the last year or so Shingeki no Kyojin has been an extremely popular manga/anime series, almost every Japanese person I’ve spoke to over the last 8 months has talked about it at some point and most people I hear about it from have a positive opinion of it. This was probably why the series was and still IS so massively popular. The script for the live-action movie is written by Yusuke Watanabe who is also well known for writing the scripts for GANTZ and various other TV dramas. I still haven’t read or watched Shingeki no Kyojin despite all the fuss being made over it. A live-action release might change my mind but I tend not to really fold when it comes to viral hits(which is what I would best describe Shingeki no Kyojin as). The only exception to that rule was Hanzawa Naoki but I was watching that before I even knew it was hugely popular.
