Japanese Drama Bitter Blood.

Bitter Blood

From April this year Fuji TV will be broadcasting a new drama called “Bitter Blood” on Tuesday nights from 9pm. There aren’t a lot of details about Bitter Blood at the moment, the official website for the drama was only opened 2 days ago and most of the links for it don’t even work yet. I did manage to do some news site hunting and find out a few things about it though. The news that I was most happy to hear is that Takeru Sato and Atsuro Watabe(who was in Kurokochi last season) will be pairing up for this one.

Bitter Blood will be based on a novel by the same name that was a massive hit, originally authored by Shusuke Shizukui. It’s a story about a beginner detective on his first beat who is paired together with his own father that he has been estranged from since childhood. They have a lot of disagreements with each other but end up solving cases together and learning from each other as not only father and son but as detective partners. That’s about all I could find out so far.

It sounds like this drama will have a typical “odd couple” feel to it.  I think that this will be amplified by the fact that not only are the two of them related, they’re parent and child. Plus it’s a detective drama. One of the articles I read said that Watabe’s character(the father) is a bit of a playboy with a far out personality who prioritises work over household issues. I actually really liked Watabe’s acting in Kurokochi, so I’m excited to see how he does things in Bitter Blood. Anyone else heard about this drama yet? If you have something to say about it please go ahead and make a comment.

  1. oooo…I love Sato Takeru! I’d love to hear more about this upcoming drama when more info comes out. (Actually, I’m also looking forward to the 2nd & 3rd Rurouni Kenshin movies too).

    • Oh wow are there going to be more Rurouni Kenshin movies? I could never get into the anime but I liked the live action movie. As you can probably tell I don’t like anime that much, I’m more of a drama guy.

  2. Great pair-up!!I love Watabe -san since Beautiful Life!He was great in Kurokochi (villain) & Tokyo Zenryoku Shojo (comedy role)..can’t wait to see him as another father-figure role…

    • Yeah I agree about Watabe in Kurokochi the role he played was really convincing and I was really impressed by it. I haven’t seen Beautiful Life though haha.
