I posted a couple of days ago about how a new model of the PS Vita was released. The main points of the new model were its reduced thickness and marginally extended battery life. I showed a few photos of the new model as well, but none of them were very up-close and personal. Yesterday someone(probably a Japanese person) went and took photos of one of the display models on show at a Sofmap store in Akihabara, and let me just say it’s substantially thinner.
Check it out. What do you think? I personally thought that the original PS Vita was a bit on the bulky side, not enough to warrant passing on it but enough to get you thinking about the practicability of carrying it around places – or bus gaming and stuff like that. But with this new thickness I don’t think that’s going to be that much of a problem anymore. I really want to try physically holding it to get a feel for it because this photo makes it look thinner than a normal index finger. Wow.
There were also a couple of tweets in Japanese showing the original photo above as well as a full photo of the actual display model partitioning. It looks like the number of colors has been confirmed at 6, and there will be Wifi/3G models again. This has really made me think that maybe I might be missing out by not having this console. Is there anyone reading my blog that has a PS Vita who can make a convincing argument for buying it? There’s a lot of Japanese software I want to play on it, especially Phantasy Star Online 2(which I guess is free anyway). By the way, anyone out there playing PSO2?
