New WOWOW drama Watashi to Iu Unmei ni Tsuite.

Watashi to Iu Unmei ni Tsuite

From the 23rd of next month(March) a new drama called Watashi to Iu Unmei ni Tsuite, “All About My Destiny”, is going to be airing and it’s going to be getting a 10pm time slot on Sunday nights. The story is based on a novel with the same name written by Kazufumi Shiraishi that was first published in 2005. The script was written by Yoshikazu Okada and Tomoyuku Takimoto is directing. Hiromi Nagasaku, Yosuke Eguchi and Nobuko Miyamoto were confirmed as cast members last month. Read on for some more short details.

Watashi to Iu Unmei ni Tsuite is going to be a human love story that follows a girl named Aki(played by Nagasaku), and the life that she lives following the bursting of Japan’s economic peak(a lot of people call this the “Bubble Period”, man I wish I could take a time machine back to that era). The plot will mainly focus on Aki ageing through a range of worldwide historic events like the 9/11 terrorist attacks or the 2007 earthquakes that occurred in Japan’s Niigata prefecture. Eguchi is going to be taking on the role of Ko, Aki’s co-worker and former boyfriend. Both actors have said that they were very happy to have been given roles in this drama and said that they hope it will move viewers and stir their emotions. Miyamoto will be playing Ko’s mother.

I’m not really sure what to expect from this drama. It doesn’t sound like something that I’d typically watch but there was a drama called LINK from a couple of seasons back that was a human drama too and I really ended up liking that. I’m not sure what a human love drama exactly is though. Either way I’ll definitely at least be watching the first episode of Watashi to Iu Unmei ni Tsuite before I make any solid judgements about whether it’s good or not. Please feel free to comment below about this drama or about any other dramas you’re looking forward to next season.
